I NE of the most beautiful home weddings of recent date was that Tuesday moraine which united Miss Inei Strge of Eugene and i Eugene Eckerlen. Jr.. of this city. The impressive ring service was read by the Rev. J. It. Buck at 9 o'clock Tnesday morning at the home of Mr. Eckerlen's parents. Wr.and Mrs. Eu gene Eckerlen. Sr.. 605 North Lib erty street. The bride, who is a beau tiful young girl, was lovely in her wedding suit of navy blue with a smart hat to match. She wore a large corsage of Cecil Brunner roses. Mrs. D. J. SPverstone of Seattle, presided itt the piano and to the strains or the Lohengrin wedding march the bridal party entered. The bride was attend ed by Miss Nancy Skatfe who was at tired In a aimp!c frock of navy blue. Paul Morris was best man. Following the service an elaborate i wedding breakfast .vaii served. Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock. The ceremony, which was witnersed by only the relatives and close friends, was performed by Rev.. James Elvrn. Preceding the cere mony. Miss Joanna James, at.tnu panied by Miss Ruth Bedford sang "I Love You. The bride was ehann l ing in a girlish gown of white net 'and canned a huge bouquet of pink roses. Miss Mattle Jarman. in her ruffled gown and carrying a bouque? of American beauty roses, made a dainty bridesmaid. Stephen Kafoury acted as best man. v The bride is the elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Estes. She form erly attended SaJem high school and is an attractive young girt. Mr. Con do is a brother of Mrs. N. C. Kafoury. He served for over two years in the Canadian machine gun corps and aft er bis discharge came to Salem where he has since made his home. After a wedding trip to Seattle and other coast cities they will make their borne in Salem. - The Salem chapter of American War Mothers met Tuesday afternoon in the auditorium of the Commercial club for the monthly meeting for business and a short social hour. Mrs. J, A. Carson, president, pre id ed . Plans were made tor the War -Mothers to. hold a "market day on July 3 when vegetables .fruits and many other things will be offered for sale. The War Mothers of Marion and Polk counties are contributing. A large number ot the members at tended and were very enthusiastic over the proposed market day. Mrs. Ben W. Olcott left Friday for Pertland where she Is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Oswald West over the week-end. Mrs. D. X. Beechter opened her at tractive ' home on Portland road Thursday for a surprise luncheon of the P. E. O. sisterhood members Shasta daisies adorned the. rooms and formed the centerpiece for the table. " - tess. Because of the gaotine shortage the Illahee Country club bridge party and tea which was to have been teld at the golf club was held in the au ditorium of th Commercial club. Small tables were arranged around the room and baskets of blue and gold blossoms were placed around. Mrs. A. F. Rahn sang a number ot songs. A large number of club mem bers were present snd many addi tional guests attended. Tea was served in late afternoon. Mrs. Curtis CroasWas hostess at the party and was assisted by a wroup of prominent younger matrons. Major and Mrs. Leo Walton are ex pected to arrive In Salem tomorrow i or Tuesday for a several weeks visit ! with the major's mother. Mrs. James Walton, and with his brother. Wil liam Walton. They are now stationed at San Antonio. Tex. They will per haps meet Miss Beatrice Walton In California and she may return with them.
