Nine Cases in Supreme Court
Brought Total of Thirty-
One Opinions

More deadlocks over cases under
consideration have occurred in the
state supreme court during 1919
perhaps than in any. other year of
the court's history. In nine cases of
more than ordinary importance in
cluded among those handled by the
court a total of 31 opinions were
written. ' Perhaps the most notable
of these was the case of Olcott vs.
Hoff in which there was a wide di
version of opinions relative to the
status of Hen W. Olcott as governor
of the state.
A report compiled by Arthur S.
Benson: clerk of the court, shows a
total of 236 cases were filed In the
courtd uring the year, which is eight
less than the previous year which
was 264. Opinions written num
bered 301 as against 336 for the
year previous. Receipts for 1919 ag
gregated $9,160.98 and for 1918.

by Salem's Paper

and Paper company now
under construct ion will! become one
of Salem's most valuable assets.
- When the wheels begin to turn R

this city but a large fbrce will le
kept at work in the woods getting
out the soft wood timbers out of
which the pulp; is manufactured.
