The biennial report of Superin- dent L. M. Gilbert of tbe State Training School tor Boys as sub mitted to tbe state board of control shows that the most common of fenses for whicb boys are sent to the school are stealing and delinquency. Commitments for these offenses durlnc the blennlum closing Septem ber 30 were 101 and 69 respectively. Interesting statistics are shown re lative, to the family records of the boys received during tbe two years. Tbe following figures are snown: Psrents separated or divorced. 4Z: parents both living. 163; parents both dead. 15; lamer oeaa. &; mother dead. 42: condition un known. 7. More boys are received at the age of IS than any other age. The present population of tne school Is 14S. A total of 37 were received . during the blennlum and 33S were caroled and escaped. The number of those eloping was 33. The 1117 legislature appropriated 172.433 for the school, of wmcn S70.691.33 was expended up to Sep tember 30. leaving a balance of II.-1 748.67. The sum of 11.905.71 was spent from the last previous appro priation, making total expenditures II5.E9704.
