Will Put in Afternoou and Even
ing of May zy Viewing Portland.
Washington, D. C, April 8 After
making a number of changes in the itin
erary of the presidential patty's visit to
the Pacific Coast, Secretary Cortelvou
has at last arranged a programme which
he hopes will be followed. Under this
pchedule, the party will reach Ashland,
Or., at 0:45 p. ui., May 21st, and leave
there at 7 p. in. After making such stops
aa possible during the night, it will ar
rive in S.ilem at !) a. in. next morning,
and spend three hours in the capital city.
Portland will be reached at 2 :15 Wednes
day afternoon. The afternoon and even
ing will be epent in viewing the city, ac
cording to the arrangements made by
the local committee, which have not yet
been communicated to Mr. Cortelvou.
All speech-making and formal receptions
will be avoided, and as much time epent
in driving about as possible.
At 9 o'clock the next morning, the
president will leave Portland, stopping
first at Chehalis at 12:30, then at Cen
tralia, reaching Olympia at 2:15 that
afternoon, where an hour will be spent.
Olympia was once stricken from the
itineiary, hut being the capital of the
state, has been restored. At 4 :30 Tacoma
will be reached, and there the night of
May 23d spent. Next morning the
president will tako a boat, and view the
important points on Puget Sound, reach
ing Seattle ut 2:30 in the afternoon. The
party is to leave Seattle at 3 o'clock
Saturday morning, and by making only
short slops at the important points across
the state, will reach Spokane Sunday
morning at 1 o'clock. Early Monday
the presidential party will start eastward
from Spokane.
Commissioner Hermann today ex
tended to the president an invitation of
the people of Koeeburg to stop off when
paseing through their town. Inasmuch
as the train passes there at 2 a. m., Hub
stop will probably have to be abandoned.
It has been suggested that the people
living ifi Southern Oregon, whose towns
will be passed in the dead of night,
should meet the president at Salem,
w here a stop of three hours will be made.
So far, none of the details of the presi
dent's visit about the cities of Portland
or Salem have been agreed to, but it is
expected definite arrangements will be
completed before he leaves Washington.

Nouth Yakima, April 8. George Otis
Smith, of the geological survey, will soon
begin operations in the Cascade moun
tains, looking to completion of the loca
tion of reservoir sites and the mapping
of the country from a geological point.
Preliminary surveys were made last year,
but the appropriation of $100,000 was
not sufficient to complete the work, and
an additional appropriation of a similar
sum has been made by congress this year.
Congress will be asked to build reservoirs
to impound water for irrigation in the
Yakima valley. In the meantime the
farmers anf couplaining that the water
shed is being destroyed by sheep grazing,
and if suitable protection was given
there would be no necessity for reservoirs.
It is claimed that in some places the
water haB decreased 50 per cent in the
past ten years, because of denuding the
forests.
You will waste time if you try to cure
indigestion or dyspepsia by starving
yourself. That only makes it worse
when you do eat heartily. You always
need plenty of good food properly di
gested. Kodol Dyspepsia Cure is the
result of years of scientific research for
something that would digest not only
some elements of food but every kind.
And it is the one remedy that will do it.

Yes, August Flowerstiil has the largest
sale of any medicine in the civilized
world. Your mothers and grandmothers
never thought of using anything else for
indigestion and biliousness. Doctors
were scarce and they seldom heard of
appendicitis, nervous prostration or
heart failure, etc. They used August
Flower to clean out tho cystem and stop
fermentation of undigested food, regu
late the action of the liver, stimulate the
nervous aud organic action of the sys

Whatever a rango ought to do, it ought to do well. To bother with one that
is difllcult to manage, that Is liable to get clogged up, or has an unfortunate habit
of doing exactly what you neither want nor expect, is a mistake. The ClIARTF.lt
OAK is a model ot what a range should be. It needs very little fuel, is easily
kept in order, is an ornament to the kitchen, and its durability ia remarkable.
What is perhaps more to tho point, it can be had for a reasonable price. A poor
range is a nuisance; a uond one a luxury. You citu avoid the nuisance aud insure
the luxury by purchasing a Charter O.ik Steel Hnuge.
