cada Locks, we made fine time to Port
land, arriving there at 4 p. in., giving us
three hours time in Portland, which was
improved to the best ability of the dif
ferent passengers. Some went to the
city park; some witnessed the bout
racing, while others inspected the show
windowp, and some took a look at Port
land from the heights and the Oregonian
building.
Leaving Portland at (5:55, on good,
comfortable coaches, we arrived in
j Astoria at 10:30 p. m., where wo were
! met by the reception committee of forty

the Jiig Klickitat, received yesterday,
tells of the popularity which this health
resort is attaining. Within about eight

the very flavor of the water indicates
