by a handsome majority, being
helped by the large Democratic vote
in the Greater New York, where
Tammany was trinmphant oveT the
Citizens' Union and the "Republican
ticket. The loss of Greater New
York came hardly as a surprise, be
cause the Eepabhcans insisted upon
a separate ticket, making the tri
nmph ot Tammany certain. The
low to good government Is great.
On tbe other hand, Baltimore was
carried a second time by thoae in
favor of a good, clean administra
tion, and the state also went Bepub
lican, insuring a republican ucctor
to United States Senator Garnan.
