The readers of this paper will be
pleased to learn that there is at least
one dreaded disease that science has
been able to cure in all its stages, and
that is Catarrh. Hall's Catarrh Care is
the only positive care known to the
medical fraternity. Catarrh being a
constitutional disease, requires a consti
tutional treatment. ' Hall's Catarrh
Cnre is taken internally, acting directly
upon the blood nod mucous sartaces of
the system, thereby destroying the foun
dation of the disease, and giving the
patient strength by building up the con
stitution and assisting nature in doing
its work. The proprietors have so much
faith in its curative powers, that they
offer One Hundred Dollars for any case
that it fails to cure. Send for list of

Electric JBltter.
Electric Bitters is a medicine suited
for any season, but perhaps more gen
erally needed, when the languid ex
hausted feeling prevails, when the liver
is torpid and sluggish and the need of a
tonic and alterative is felt. A prompt
use of this medicine has often averted
long and perhaps fatal bilious fevers
No medicine will act more surely in
counteracting and freeing the system
from the malarial poison. .' Headache,

The following campaign song" has been
received in- sheet music form by The
Chronicle. It would make a 'splendid
song for the McKinley glee club: - ,
By deception and by treason.
And all the trts save reason, "
lias the Democratic party always won.
She Is a gay deceiver,
And as sure as vou believe her.
You'll regret it uud pay dearly for your fun.
Chorus.
Whenever they've been trusted,
The country they have busted;
It is the same old story o'er and o'er.
They've never failed to do it.
Nor the people ceased to rue it
From Maine to California's golden shore.
With Van Buren, Jackson, Polk,
Tne people all went broke,
As they did again just before the war.
For our fathers isdly tell
How Buchanan, he raised well
It is just tbe same old story o'er and o'er.
Great Grover lives in clover, .
While all the country over
Men are cussing him who never cussed before.
Millions ben foi work in vain.
Isn't the "object lesaon" plain?
It is just the same old story o'er and o'er.
Having ruined this great nation
With Free-Trade legislation.
Now they're singing a very different song;
For they say with matchless gall
That free silver will cure all,
And, as usual, you'll find that they are wrong.
But sound money and Protection
Wilt carry the election,
For they cannot fool the people any more; -'
Then McKinley and Hobart true,
Grover s ruin wi I undo,
And prosperity'!! be with us as before.
TUB TEST OF VALVES.
Gold Nii Bnj Leu Labor than 35
Years srna
Chicago Chronicle, Dem.
No competent student places the aver
age fall in gold prices from the max
imum, about 1873 to 1895, at more than
30 per cent.j and this average relates
only to commodities, not to services.
According to the investigation made by
tbe senate committee on finance with
the aid of the national labor bureau,
there waa an actual advance in wages
during that period down to the close of
the investigation.
Averaging the price of labor with the
prices of commodities, therefore, the
value of gold must have risen very much
lets than the decline of 30 per cent in
commodity prices would indicate.
But the main thing is that with re
spect to labor gold has actually fallen in
value. It takes more gold to pay for an
bour'j labor now than it did 23 years
ago. The greater tne rise in tne valne
of gold with respect to commodities,
therefore, the better for the wage earn
er, for he can buy the more with the
same quantity of gold.
While the tabular standard can never
be made exact, it is nevertheless useful.
From the various tabulations which
have been made the conclusion is estab
lished beyond all reasonable doubt that
the workingman can get more for his
wages than he could 25 years ago, while
the dollar with which to pay his debt
cost 8 him less labor.
