A. Natural Gas Experiment.
Anderson, Ind., Dec. 18. The Indi
anapolis gas trust began a new experi
ment in natural gas production yester
day, on the Waddell, farm, nine miles
east of Noblesville. Twelye gas wells
will be drilled on a section of land.
Near the center a well will be sent down
into salt water. To this well a powerful
pump will be attached and the water
drawn out. This, will be done with a
view of keeping the other wells dry.
The experiment on a large scale is the
result of one made a short time since by
Superintendent Shackleton, when he
put a pump into a wet well, and in less
than forty-five minutes had a half dozen
wet wells in the vicinity flowing dry gas.
Many gas companies and citizens were
present to learn the result.
Mr. Ira P. Wetmore, a prominent real
estate agent of San Angelo, Texas, has

find it a perfect cure for our baby when
troubled with cholera or dysentery. I
now feel that my outfit is not complete
without a bottle of this Remedy at home
or on a trip away from home. For sale

San Francisco, Dec. 18. No meeting
has yet been called of the committee ap
pointed by the republican state central
committee to contest the election for
.-governor the legislature. Alvinza Hay
ward, the chairman ot the committee, is
.absent from the city, but he is expected
to return tomorrow. A meeting will
then be promptly arranged and a plan
-devised for executing the task imposed
upon the committee. It is probable
ihat the meeting will be held Saturday.
For a pain in the side or chest there is
toothing, so good as a piece of flannel
dampened with Chamberlain's Pain
Balm and bound on over the seat of pain.
It affords prompt and permanent relief
and if used in time will often prevent a
cold from resulting in pneumonia. This
same treatment is a sure cure for lame
back. For sale by Blakeley & Hough
ton Druggists.
