A fasting craze has struck religious
enthusiasts in Portland. Several have
died from lack of nourishment and the
Telegram which reached The Dalles this
morning tells of A. P. Anderson and
wife, an Albina couple, who have just
entered upon a forty days' fast, believ
ing that they have been commanded to
do so. Mrs. Anderson being asked if 1
she had eaten nothing at all sinco she
began her fast, replied : "Nothing ex-'
cept the body and the blood of the J
