The driver then lost con trol of the machine and crashed into telephone pole, reducing the expen ' sive car to a heap of tangled steel and wood. After the excitement of the accident at Insley avenue, it was learned that : the same car had struck another ear, registered to Charles Wolf, Milwaukie. .at Harold avenue, one block south of where Mes FHip was injured. The car did not stop there, either. . Patrolman Russell of the east side - station investigated the crash and dis covered that a pint bottle, partly filled - with liquor, had been found in the car by a pedestrian. This was sent to the , police station. Russell also interviewed J. W. Fer ruson,- Spalding building, and C. J, Jsochtigal, No. 1565 East 15th street, who were first on the scene. Both said the driver was under the Influence of liquor. : v - "- -': I. M. Moyer. No. 504 East Ash street a driver for the Troy laundry, reported to the police that a touring car. which he said was the same one which was wrecked, passed him at Jennings Lodge on the Oregon City road, a few min utes before the crash. The Dalles. Dec. 21. Wasco county's apportionment of state taxes for 1923 is II 64,71 4.S6, according, to a communi cation received Wednesday by County Clerk. M.-I. Crichton from the state tax commission. This is 88,760.74 less than the state apportionment for 1922, which was 8163.475.60. The .
