Walker, John Beckwith, Bruce Schuman and Percy Hetherton. India Prospering, r: Missionary; - Tells Of Steady Strides Christian leaders in India are teach ing the' natives to develop their agri cultural, industrial and commercial re sources, said the Rev., J. M. Baker of Ongole, India, pastor' of the largest Baptist church, in the world. In an ad dress delivered Monday noon at the Seward hotel to a group of local Bap tist leaders. Dr. Baker's church num bers 10,500 adult members. Dr. Baker has spent 27 years In In dia and has been pastor, of this one church far 20 years, f his predecessor having been, the renowned Dr. J. E. dough, who is credited with having baptised 2222 adults in one day. Dr. Baker. spoke j on "The Re sources and Needs of India," and stated that India with one fifth of the world's population, is producing more raw materials than the United States. Appointment. used MJJ II j Bigamy Charge Is Faced by Woman Who Forgot Note Kelso, Wash., Dec. 19. Mrs. Elnora Johnson-Hiatt pleaded guilty in Justice court to a charge .of bigamy here Monday. Mrs. Johnson left her hus band at Odessa, Wash.. November 27, and met A. E. Hiatt of this city, whom she had never seen before, in Seattle. A few days later they were married here. The meeting between Mrs. Johnson and Hiatt had been arranged by a mu tual friend. When Mrs. Johnson left Odessa she forgot sto take a letter from Hiatt, instructing her to wear a ribbon of a certain shade that he might recognize her at Seattle. The irate husband found the letter and came to Kelso Saturday, securing a warrant for her arrest. i v Hiatt did not knot she was mar ried, Mrs. Johnson asserted in court.
