As n example of the methods or butchers in gettinr the public to pur chase supplies under grulse that It is because of the lack of demand for low priced i stock that z the selected cuts must be priced tUl higher, the action of retailers in charring just s much for round steak as for the finer cuts is a-ive. ' A short time sea butchers complained that the pubila would not purchase hams and bacon because prices were low. As soon as the aver age consumer realised this, the demand for pork products increased. Then the butchers quickly advanced tlieir prices. - Sellers of cubebutter are now able to shade their prices about 2c a pound as a result of recent cuts in the whole sale market. . Pullet egs are being- sold at low prices relatively- for the fresh offer ings because of the abundance of such stock, while -the farcer errs command a big premium to go to New York. , Cauliflower, cabbage, lettuce, celery and spinach are still available in aup ply . at former prices.
