One of the most freauent complaints registered on this question is that of interference by spark stations, not only during the listening hours but on pro gram time, and also against certain .Portland stations "hogging" a few minutes of time in excess of their al lotted space. One complaint in par ticuiar was against a station that broke into a program recently merely to test tne set. The station complained against is one of the most popular in the city. Along with the constant requests for Sunday evening programs comes a re quest that the evening be devoted to sacred music ana religious lectures. The numoer of votes for sacred music as agfiinst high class popular music on that evening is on a ratio ot about three to two. ' To enable those who missed the ques tionnaire last Sunday It will be re peated this Sunday in the radio de partment of the paper. McCabe, recently named head of the employment department of the United States Veterans' bureau In the North west, came to Portland Wednesday and is holding conferences wfth bureau of ficials and employers here in an at tempt to secure suitable worTt for a number ot cx-service men in the city who have completed " the training courses offered by the government but have not yet secured positions. One Bidder on Sewer The second advertisement for bids for construc tion of the Vaughn street and ,32d street sewer system brought forth one bidder Wednesday. On first call there were no bidders for the work. Jensen & rtasmussen offer to construct the sewer for $1406.40. The bid was re ferred to tho department of public works for its recommendation. Wagnon have flied with the public service commission a com plaint charging' that the Pacific Spruce corporation has been operating a com mon carrier railroad- between South Bend and Walport in Lincoln county without " complying ; with, the public utilities law. The company, the com plaint alleges, has failed to file Its schedules of fares and 1 freights with, the commission, has torn up and aban doned a part of its lines without the consent of the -commission ana is giv ing a service that is" entirely inade quate and discriminatory. ; The commission explains that the company has never made any attempt to comply with the utilities act as a common carrier.
