SO See bur window that' all we ask! w7l (1 T UfW Every Article x Reduced l4 CExcwpt Cesbtract Co sals) V W A peculiar condition existed some time ago in the automobile world. A wave of frenzied desire for un reasonable economy swept car own ers they wanted to get preposter ous mileage out of their gasoline. Manufacturers were quick to take advantage of the situation. Overnight advertising sprang up throughout the country promising "30 more mileage out of your gas oline by using 'Dopum' in your tank," "your mileage doubled through using 'Gas-stretcher con trivances," "more miles per dollar with 'Cardboard carburetors." If a car were equipped with all . those economizers gasoline would be flowing into the tank when the car was running instead of out of it! Much present coal advertising is based upon the same hysterical claims of superiority. The writer has before him coal advertisements from all across the country.. They abound in loose, extravagant prom ises which are either meaningless or impossible to fulfill. We cannot indulge in such practice. Instead of painting glittering pictures of "how one ton of our coals will keep your home heated all winter," we prefer addressing ourselves to the reasonable buyers of coal in this community telling them that out of the many coals we carry there undoubtedly is a kind which will be most efficient for their need and most economical for their purse.
