IIIVIDUA LHOMES
TO AID SHORTAGE
New York. June 14. Housing
shortage throughout the ' country
must find their first relief "ln the
building o rrndividual homes, accord
ing to a statement by Allan ; Robin
son, president of the City and Sub
urban Homes company.
He declared i 'that -people who have
saved : a moderate amount, of money
are In a position to .obtain homes built
for them on an easy payment " plan.
Multi-family houses, 'however, j be ' de
clared, cannot under present conditions
be put, up to rent to people of mod
erate means in this vicinity. "If - we
could get our building costs geared to
the $3500 house," he eaid, "such ; a
large number of "them would be pur
chased , that rents would fall."
The 1 most encouraging' . feature to
me," Bald President Curran of the bor
ough of Manhattan, "is that the plans
filed since February 25 will provide for
7559 families in little houses as against
5720" in apartments."
