V. Shannoa (Special Correspondent ot The Journal. ) New Orleans,- May 28. The conditions in the rice market have improved so much that there is a general feeling of elation in this city "arid throughout the rice growing section. Tha demand Is constantly growing and the indications are now that the producers will be able to get rid of most of their surplus before the next crop is made. Farmers are now getting from a dollar to a 'dollar and a half a sack more for their rough rice than they could get 30 days ago.' . At the same time the price for cleaned rice haa advanced about a cent a pound. The advance, instead of restricting de mand, seems to have increased it.
