Tax Reductions of 25 Per Cent Asked On 1921 Assessment Montesano. Wash., April 19.--Agitation for a 23 per cent reduction of the 1920 taxes came to an end In Grays Harbor rmintv when the Tax Payers league thrnnch ij committee of 30, told the county board of equalization it had de riArd a tax rebate would be illegal. The board was ssked to pledge itself to a 23 per cent reduction In the assessment for next year. No action was taken. Alex Poison charged taxing bodies will take all they can get, citing the case of school district No. 44 in this county, with 27 pupils and $32,000 in taxes raised this year. "Grays Harbor county must curtail expenses or lose its industries." he said. J. S. Waugh, Aberdeen merchant as serted the oniy economies the committee pointed out as possible were in the hir ing of one stenographer and the pur chase of, auto tires. He recommended that the same amount cf taxes be raised for next year and that roads be built with, the money while tha county had it Following the uncovering of fresh evi dence in connection with the murder near Aberdeen last fall of Nicholas Ko ieskl, a special policeman, new informa tions have been filed In court here against Ambiloff. Kargira and Sirhoff. Russians, charged with the crime. The case will probably be docketed for May 23. Spellers from all corners of Grays Harbor county will contest here , Friday night at the high school audi ion am in the annual spelling match for grade pupils. Meeting Demands That Public Service Commission Resign Resolutions calling- for the resigna tions of Buehtel, Williams and Corey, forming the board of public service-com- missioners, were adopted unanimously at . a mass meeting attended by 200 citi zens of the Brooklyn district held lh the auditorium of the Brooklyn school Monday night The meeting was addressed by Robert G. Duncan, chairman of the Public Serv ice Recall Committee, Inc, who reviewed the acts of the public service commis sion in increasing; the rates of the tele phone, gas andrstreet railway companies and condemned the orders issued by the commission in strong terms. The meeting' also adopted resolutions calling on the governor tr take personal charge of the work of the tax commis sions and tax regulatory bodies of the state, it being set out that while the public has but small confidence in the acts of these bodies so far as any ef- fort to reduce taxes was concerned, it did have confidence in the governor and would feel sure, were he to take personal charge of the work to be done by them, that the taxpayers would get square deal. Train Dispatchers Form Association; Officers Elected Indiana Protest Irrigation Payment Yakima, Wash-, April 19. Secretary of the Interior Fall will receive this week a letter of protest from the Yakima In dian Commercial club, with headquar ters at Wapato. claiming that the rul ing of the department of the interior in refusing to allow water to, be turned on the Indian reservation lands until the 95 an acre construction charge is paid is unfair. With the Irrigation season at hand only about $63,000 of the 8125,000 due on construction charges has been paid. It Is estimated that a third of the productive acreage on the reservation will be lacking water. Railway train dispatchers of this dis trict met Monday evening at the Port land hcel and formed a local assembly or the American Train uispatcners as sociation, for which the name Rose City lodge was adopted. Oregon and ' parts of Washington and Idaho are included in the lodce territory and about 75 dis patchers are eligible. Officers selected for the organization were : R. E. White, S.
