Three cent haa been added to the price at the creameries and in order to make a fair profit retailers are forced to advance their price I to 8c a pound. The .public market is afaln being criticized. It Is either too high or too low ; very seldom are prices where they should be. For Instance, the maximum price that may i be charged for fresh eggs on the market Is 35c a doaen. Actual sales at . wholesale are being made from 85 to 35c a dozen : there fore, it is not to be presumed that many producers will offer much stuff on the public market. ; Private stalls alongside the market are beginning to ignore the prices posted by the market master for the very good reason that he does not follow the mar ket either upward or downward, but makes an arbitrary ruling. Cancellation of foreign orders is the principal factor at the moment and this caused an easier opening; for options in the Eastern trade. Then haa been little activity in th trad re eenUy, due to tha persistent beariah eampaiga being carried oa by foreign interests, and epe eially Argentina, where the market appears to be under absolute control of British interests. Considering tha knrnaaa of the wheat price, th market for floor ia likely to show another sharp decline; ia fact a lower price baa bees in pros pect for some time. There appear to be little disposition at "the moment to sacrifice wheat holdings in the Pa cific North went. Most growers who hare held their supplies appear able to bold awhU longer. Continue On Upward Trend Securities have been creeping higher since the advent of the new year. It is important to remember that tha United States has become a nation of Investors as a result of the great war loan cam paigns. No one can approximate tha loss sustained by tha people as a re sult of readjustment and deflation, but it is safe to assume that the stupen dous new wealth created by the war and distributed broadcast has not been entirely wiped out, Probably one-half of it remains intact, and tha purchasing power of the nation far exceeds that of J any outer period in normal times, inere haa been a large volume of Investment buying of securities. With tha banking situation growing stronger, credits showing continued relaxation and money rates casing, income-bearing securities will continue to advance.
