With delegate from virtually every coast port attending, the an- nual convention of the Pacific Coast Association, of Port Authorities opened here today, with Thomas S. Lippy, chairman of the Seattle port commission, presiding. Ports represented are Portland, As- toria. Eureka, San Francisco, Los An geles. Oakland. Kan Diego. Aberdeen, 'Tacoma, Kverett. Bellingham, Victoria and Vancouver, B. C. John R McCallum, president of the tate hoard of harbor commissioners at San Francisco, real ji paper today on ' Establishment of Uniform Policies, and Insofar as Possible. Uniform Charges At Publicly 6wned and Controlled Ports of the Pacific Coast." Discussion on this was led by F. I. Randall of Portland. Uniform Abuses by . Ex-Service Men Is Scored; Must Stop Abuse of army, navy and marine uni forms by cx-Rervice men must cease, ac cording to definite instructions received Wednesday by United States Marshal Alexander from William L.. Frierson. acting attorney general. Frierson tsaid his attention had been direcud by the Mcrretary of war to the prevalent misuse of the uniform. Alexander is advised that It Is unlawful to war the duly prescribed uniform or any distinctive part of it. or another uniform similar to thn prescribed one, except on special occasions. There probably would be no objection to wearing the trousers or shirts, the marshal explained, but such a distinctive part of the uniform as the coat or overcoat would have to be changed, he said, or it will not come within the requirements of the law. The changing would include the removal of all buttons, badges and other distin guishing marks. Revised Figures Raise Estimate for Berkeley to 56,036 Washington. Oct. 14. (I. N. S.) Re vised population figures were announced today by the census bureau as follows : Oakland. Cal.. 1920 population. 216.261 ; previously announced as 216,361. Berkeley, Cal., 1920 population, 56.036; previously announced as 55,886. Santa Clara county, California, 1910 population, 100,676 ; previously announced as 100.588. Seattle Buys Eggs -At 90 Cents Dozen Seattle. Wash., Oct. 11. (I. X. S.) Eggs are 80 cents wholesale here today and the consumer is paying from S3 to 90 cents a do.n for them. ' Strong bids from New York, buyers are sending prices skyward. Easterners are taking all they can get at 80 cents f. o. b. Seattle. Colonel Weidler to Be Honor Guest Colonel Milton W. Weidler. for nearly 30 years connected with the Portland fire department, will be tendered a re ception late this afternoon at the city hail by officials of the city government.
