STEEL EXPECTED TO DROP : By Broadan Wall New York, Aug". 30.-Material Im provement of Benttment has become apparent In the flnanplai ; world the last week, bat there" are still three fundamental necessities of ; a grood market. - Money profiteering must be stopped, the price of steel must "be cut and the transportation facilities of the country must be Improved. " Crops' are good beyond danger of se rious damage, and labor- is . becoming more efficient. With cheaper money and steel, and better transportation., the country, will be able ttf restore business to normal very quickly after its .-, ap proaching collapse, and the stock market will be able to continue optimistic right through the collapse. r - ' 1 . ' , - There : It no official warrant for say ing1 that the price of steel will be cut, but the way the railroads hesitate in placing their orders suggests that such a thing must be done. , Cotton, rubber, sugar, silk and a dozen other commodi ties have gone down, while Bteel remains at about war prices. - What the world needs now, . more than anything else, is steel." The steel companies made fab ulous profits during the war. ' Nobody has criticised them for that, because they really won the war. arid the people seem to think that they are entitled to their great rewards. But the War is over and the steel companies can afford better than any other class of: corpor ations, to start the cut toward normal. A. Jj. Tucker Returns A. I.
