YOAKUM RESIGNS AS HEAD
OF FU2ET SALES DIVISION
Business affairs of a personal nature,
which have assumed wider proportions
because of the death, of . his father at
Los Anxeles recently, have prompted C
(X.Toal(um, In charge of the affairs of
the division of supply and sales, Emerg
ency FJeet corporation, west of the
Rockies," to tender his resignation " to
officials at Washington. Ue intends to
eo to the family home at Lxa Angeles
and devote his efforts toward Southern
California interests, W. C. Hunter of
New Orleans has been named to euo-
ceed him. I j
It is expected Yoakum will be re
lieved shqrtly and he fully hopes, to ttim
over the affairs of the district before
the week ends. His retirement marks
more than a year in charge of the sell
ing of surplus shipbuilding material and
equipment on the. Pacific Coast, as he
assumed the directorship of the western
district a year ago in June. In that
time a considerable portion of the stocks
held at Coast yards and concentration
points have been moved into various
channels, general industrial plants hav
inr benefitted through the selling of the
property as well as virtually every ship
-.construction' organisation' on the Coast.
; - Though his district duties have kept
him moving much of the time from San
Pedro to Seattle Yoakum says he has
particularly enjoyed his work and
friendships in Portland, This city is the
headquarters of the division, ,,.-.
