The enlistment term is two years. Due to the adoption of electricity as the motive power for the new super dreadnaughts, a large force of electri cians is needed in the navy. Lind quist, mentioned as being a member of a bootlegging ring, three members of which were fined in the federal court Saturday, is not a resident of Portland, but Seattle. Since publication of the court action in the case, C. V. Linquist, 911 Long-view avenue. Portland, has re ceived several "orders" from his friends for a little bootleg whiskey. It these "friends" will take close notice, they will observe that the two names are not spelled the same, the Seattle man hav ing an extra letter in his name. The Portland man .is In no way connected with any liquor case. In Trosble Over Oil Dripping Grease and oil allowed to drip on the pavement was the means of getting Hyman Robin, 20, into trouble with the police. Robin was arrested by Patrolman Forker while working on the crank case of his auto mobile at Yamhill and Park streets Mon day night and was released on $25 bail. The police claim that the grease and oil ran down the curb for about a block. Drops Dead ait Work In Restaurant; His Identity: Unrevealed An unidentified man dropped dead at 9 o'clock: .Monday night while washing dishes in a restaurant at 43 North Sec ond street. He was carried to the Knights of Columbus Service club rooms at 243 Couch street where a doctor at the Emergency hospital was called, who pronounced him dead and notified the coroner. The body was removed to the county morgue. . According to information at . the cor oner's office he had only worked about two hours in the restaurant before he was stricken. Mrs. Anna Lawrence of the Barr hotel was the only person in the room at the time he fell. A work, check in his pocket showed him to be a former employe' of the S., P. & S. at Westport, Or., where Information is oeing sought as to his identity. He is believed to be about 45 years of age. Post Plans for Visit Of D'Olier, Head of American Legion The state convention of the American Legion being out of the way, members of the organization in Portland are now planning for the visit of Franklin D'Olier national commander who is ex pected here August 7. D'OUer, accom panied by his wife, secretary and one of the publicity men from headquarters at Indianapolis, will be here for three days. Major , W.; S. Gilbert of Astoria, the new state commander, is expected in Portland to assist in the reception to the national officer. G. Lane Goodell of Portland, vice commander of the de partment, and ,W. B. Albee. former mayor, on the wit ness stand before The Auditorium com mittee at the city council chambers Mon day night, testified that, in his opinion. The Auditorium was one of the best con struction jobs ever done in the city. , Albee also said, when he was mayor, assurance was given to Hans Pederson, the contractor, that so far as the mayor was personally concerned, the contractor would not have to suffer losses resulting from errors in calculating his bid.
