The precipitation this year was almost CHIWEETO BE El NAM 0 PWC HEALTH NURSING A conference of represntatives from agencies in Oregon interested In public health nursing Is called for Tuesday at 4:30 p. m. in 1010 Sell ing; building, to form a committee on public health nursing as a, part of the state board of health. Following are the suggested functions of such a committee, made by Miss Jane C, Allen, state advisory nurse: To encourage the extension of public health nursing throughout the state; to aid in the coordination of public health nursing activities nd agencies ; to assist in the proper ; distribution of nurses. To encourage and aid in providing Improved and Increased facilities for the education of public, health nurses. To promote the use iamong public health nurses of alj available resources for help. . T I ' r WOULD EDUCATE PUBLIC To aid in informing the public as to the nature, "scope and proper standards of public health nursing. . - To initiate or support necessary state legislation for the promotion of public health nursing. , The suggested specific activities are : Effort to bring together and cord i nate all public health, nursing agencies of the state so that every neglected spot may i be covered, overlapping : may be prevented and the activities of all may be: developed with . the -least . waste and the greatest effectiveness. Endeavor to persuade trustees of hos pitals to improve and enlarge educa tlonal facilities in nurses' training schools ; should encourage . the support and endowment of such schools and of courses In public health nursing and work for the advancement of a better standard of nursing education. - Call the' attention of all nurses work ing in the field of public health nurs ing the opportunities which are offered by the library service of the national or ganisation for public health nursing, the American Journal of .burning and the Public Health Nurse, to learn what others are doing and planning in the same or closely allied fields of work. It should also make known to them and encourage them to 'make use of all. na tional and state' resources available for their help in order that they may cease to be isolated units working in solitude and may profit by the experience, ex perlments and support of all the other workers In their field. ' PUBLICITY CAMPAIGN PLANNED The committee may undertake to con duct a publicity - campaign throughout the state to spread aong public, off! cials and citizens a better understanding of the nature, scope and standards of public health nursing and should en deavor to secure close- cooperation from the. state and county medical associa tions. - - ' ! ,' - : It Is desirable " that the committee should aid in creating public sentiment in favor of the enactment of suitable public health nursing legislation, in cluding - the ; appropriation ' of public funds for health nursing and the crea tion of divisions of public health nurs ing within state departments 'of health. Jaeger, owners of the property, in which they seek to obtain ' judgment for ' 310,000 damages. They say that when the hotel was leased to them , there was a pro vision that if they found a genuine, pur chaser for the business the owners of the building would consent to a. trans fer of the lease ; that they did secure .such a prospective purchaser in slay, but that the owners refused to sign a transfer and the sale fell through. 10 times as much as that which fell in June last year. : There were Seven days this year when .01 or more inches of rain fell and 24 days were clear. One day was cloudy and five days partly cloudy. The hottest day of the month was June 30 when the mercury rose to 7 degrees. .
