The library does a great deal of wel

addition to the present 80 days' sick
leave, which is greater than that air

a month's vacation every year, explained

Letters recently sent out to newly
naturalized citizens by the library, In
viting them to use the institution, has
brought considerable t response, accord
ing to the monthly report submitted to
the board. One Greek in Cast Portland
suggested that American-born citizens
should go through the. same course of
instruction before they be permitted to
vote as the foreign born, claiming that
since taking the prescribed course in
Americanization, he was much better
informed than many native bora citl
sena. Resolutions of regret at the death of
Vary Frances Isom were unanimously
adopted.

Eight Cases to Be
Argued in Supreme
Court at Pendleton
Pendleton, April 22. Eight cases, one
of them from Umatilla county, will toe
argued before the supreme court which
convenes here Monday, May 3. The
local caee is that of lley Winn, respond
ent, vs. Moses Taylor, appellant, to set
aside a Judgment for $3200. Other cases
to be argued are :
