S.) Mustapba Kemal Pa una, leader of the Turkish' nationalists, today sent a wire less dispatch to the sultan protesting . against Dmsd Ferld as grand vizier. The nationalist leader declared the antl natlonallst policy of the grand vizier would "inevitably lead to serious disor ders in Turkey." Mutitapha Kemal iysha threatened the sultan that the Anatolians will not longer recognize him as caliph If the national ities' wishes are disregarded. An unconfirmed report was received here that Mustapha Kemal Panha had arrested all the British in Anatolia and was calling alt the Moslems capable of bearing arms to the colors immediately. 10 KILLED in figiitixg AMONG -JEWS AND MOSLEMS London, April 7. Wright is a native or union county and has lived there all or nis life, with the exception of the time he has Wen serving with the state com mission. H exoects to sever his connections with the commission about May 13 to return to Union county, where he will enter upon the practice of law and carry on his campaign for district attorney. Wright served eight years as county clerk of Union county and was for four years previous to that time a deputy in the office. Plans, to blow he safe and rob the Hamley Co. store here are alleged to have been confessed to Sheriff Taylor by one member of a gang of six youths arrested Monday for theft of clothing from a local clean ing establishment. A proc lamation has been issued forbidding civ ilians from entering Jerusalem as a re sult of the clash between Jews and Moslems on Sunday, when 188 persons were wounded, said a News Agency dis patch from Cairo today. Lamping Is Named Vice President of Northwestern Bank T. L. Lamping, manager of the local branch Of the Federal Reserve bank of San Francisco, has been appointed vice president of the Northwestern National bank and will take over thev duties of his new office May 1. Lumping was for several years con nected with the Seattle National bank nd spent some months In 'the Federal Ueserve bank at San Francisco. He has been in charge of the Portland branch of the Federal Reserve bank bout two .years. Announcement of Lamping appoint-' ment was made this morning by Emery Olmstead. president of the bank, fol 'towlng a meeting of the board of direct tors. Lamping's successor as manager of the Federal Reserve branch bank has not been named. Appointment of a new rrianager will come from the governor of the Twelfth federal reserve district at San Francisco. Salem. April 7. John SH. Recruiting Station Receives Powerful New Searchlight Under direction of Lieutenant Colonel O. W. S. Stevens trial test was given last night to a portable 36-inch field search light recently received by the local army recruiting station. Exhibi tion of the light was made on King's Heights and so powerful are the rays thrown from the mammoth lens that one could read a newspaper by Its light at a distance of three milea .The light is mounted on a separate carriage and may be removed to any re quired distance from the six ton truck used in transporting It. Current is gen erated by the engine of the truck, and under normal conditions this is strong enough to throw the light five or six miles. The new mechanism will be dis played on the downtown streets after noons and evenings. Twin Falls'. Idaho. April 7. At the meeting of the Port of Astoria commission Tuesday, president Stone reported that price for various tracts included in the site for the proposed naval base have been adjusted. The arbitration committee will meet to make its report this week. The com mission decided to deepen the chan nel at the mouth of the Lewis and Clark river In the general Improvement plan for Youngs bay. A formal request was made to the railroad company - for -10 flatcars on which to ship 680,000 feet of lumber, now at the terminals, to Coos Bay. H. M. Lortsen, secretary of the Colum bia River Fishermen's Protective union, stated that contrary o an Associated Press dispatch from Portland, which said the Astoria union, by a vote of 80 to , had opposed the threatened strike, fisher men here had by a vote of 80 to 6, fa vored It. The packers' proposals were disapproved. Between 75 and 100 truck drivers struck Tuesday. The employers had been given until Tuesday to sign the new union scale. The new scale of wages, per day, follows: One half to two ton trucks. 16.10; two to three ton trucks, 87 three to five ton trucks, 17.50.
