But I: should worry I bet a lot of those guys that have all the tall talk on the topic are so busy measuring the yardage and mileage and trying to figure what the freight rates and postal zones are going to be if we ever make telegraphic con nections, that; 10 to 1 they miss a lot of the joy that comes from just look ing at the Moon and the Sun as a" coupla old pals '. I get thrill enough outa just know ing that it's the same old Moon and Sun that Cleo and Mark and Nero and all those, gangs that have long since checked out on a one-way ticket to wherever the next stop is ! And it means more to me to know that in just i little while after the Sun and Moon cross the state line here they'll be beaming down on a housetop and garden that are mighty dear to me because they hold the home folks ! I'm afraid 'these telescope birds that are always adding and subtract ing sur spots and craters get too scientific. I'd; rather fill in a little sentiment and imagination ; I like the "faces" better than the facts ! Why, to me that old Sun and Moon have as dozen different ex pressions. Many a time I watched them dip down into the great Pacific and they 4ook positively lovesick out there. I've watched them cross the mighty luncheon at the Hotel Portland Monday At the same meeting : Mayor Baker was named chairman of the board, with Henry R, Reed as secretary. Other members are: Governor Olcott, Louis O. Clarke, Dr. G. H. Douglas. Aaron It. Frank, Eric V. Hauser, J. L. Hammers ley Sr., A. O. Jones, William M. Ladd, George Lawrence Sr.. Dr. C. J. McCus ker. George Stapleton, R. A. Stewart, J L. Wright, L. R. Wheeler. Lieutenant Colonel T. W. Scott, pro vincial officer of the North Pacific province, reported comprehensively on the campaign for 1919. Future work In the industrial department was outlined by Major Bree. R. N. Stanfield to Be Defendant in Suit for $21,000 Service on a suit filed in the United States district court here in June, 1919, has just been completed, and In the near future proceedings of Story & Work may be started against R N. Stanfield. T. B. Story and L. P. Work, cattle dealers of Bozemati. Mont., allege they contracted with Stanfield for 7000 yearling ewes at $11.50 a head. They declare Stanfield did not keep his con tract and they seek $21,000 damages. BEAUTY COMFORT ART MUSIC Under the Direction of Jensen and Von Herberg PORTLAND'S MAGNIFICENT NEW THEATRE IS ABOUT COMPLETED THE PEOPLES V WATCH OPENING I rs Rockies, with a sort of dignity and respect for those big old mountains, and I've seen them speed across the Parades like as if it was a good stretch of road. But here in New York, when they disappear behind the oil cloud crush ers, they have to me the most mis chievous expression. They look pos Itivley gossipy ! They kinda wink and flirt at you and look so sophisticated. 'Just like a coupla regular Broad wayltes ! APOSTOLIC AIRPLAIIE-! TO ARRIVE HERE WITH SKY PILOT STEERING Big Three-Seated Curtiss Plane to Be Used Here in Cam paign for Near East Relief. C. Lancaster for use at his direction in connection with the approaching campaign for Near East relief. The mission has also placed at the disposal of the committee one of Its large auto trucks, with a driver.
