The man who gave me this clearcut
exposition has made a name for him

hostilities, he .served in a French avia
tion squadron and -at the end came out
an ace of. aces, second only to Captain
Rene Fonck. In 1J17, after recovering
from hi third wound, the captain was
sent to America with the Tardieu mis
sion. There he formed the acquaintance
of several leading bankers and indus
trials who. he says, will now come to the
aid of France whenever asked to do so.
He Inspired such confidence in bis chief,
M. Tardieu, that the latter took him un
der his political wing and the two were
elected to the chamber on the same
Republican ticket.
Captain Heurtaux is Very youthful In
appearance. Short, slight, blond and
smoothfaced he does not look his ae.
No one. would guess that he was the
father of a family of three children.
Decker's Statement

Premier Dato today characterized as
absolutely fanciful the statement of
Rear Admiral . Decker of the United
States navy that he had insured . Span
ish neutrality In 1918 and also had In
duced Spain to take steps against the
activity of German submarines.
Rear Admiral Decker, in explaining
his refusal to accept a naval decora
tion, claimed that as naval attache in
Madrid he had been Instrumental in
keeping: Spain from entering the war
as a German ally.
Secretary of Labor
Asks Appropriation
For Deporting Reds
Washington. Jan. 7. (I. N. S.) Sec
retary of Labor Wilson on Tuesday
asked congress for a deficiency appro
priation of 11.719.131. He asked $1,000,
000 for enforcement of laws against
alien anarchists, $150,000 for deportation
of aliens and $300,000 for the Immigra
tion service.

Scotland Yards to Keep Subjects
Deported From America on the
Move as They Reach Home.

London, Jan. 7. Aroused by the dan
ger of the radicals deported by the
United States invading Britain. Scotland
Yard is making extensive plans to avert
It All "anarchists" will be met at the
docks and officers will closely examine
alt passengers coming from America and
intending to get off at British ports. Ab
solute proof must be furnished by all
those that they have a right to be at
liberty.
There Is no law, according to a Scot
land Yard official by which a British
subject can be refused admittance in this
country. It Is said there are a number
of extremists of British nationality
among the 6500 arrested, or to be ar
rested, by the United States authorities.
"The British authorities are thoroughly
alive to the danger in the situation," said
my Informant. "The deported persons
will be under surveillance from .the very
moment they land. We do not want the
same things to happen here that hap
pened in America if we can help it."
Nothing is known here of a plot to
flood the continental countries with
spurious money, there being actually
very little counterfeit British money In
existence, according to officials of the
Bank of England.
"It is known definitely, however, that
the Russian presses are producing mil
lions of pounds worth of forged British
notes, and that much of this fake money
is now in circulation in Russia, where
British currency, next to the American
dollar, is the standard' exchange money.

General Seminoff,' by his attack on the
heroic Czechs, has lost the last vestige
of the sympathy of the civilised world.

ported that the British admiralty has
decided to have the sunken ships lying
in Scapa Flow, the sea basin in the
Orkneys, blown up to prevent them be
coming menaces to navigation.

Daubert Declares That French
