BRIDGE TRAFFIC DISCUSSED
Recommendation Made That Dep
uty Sheriffs Guard Morrison
and Burnside Spans.
That the Albina. feme will be given
a new river crossing below Its pres
ent location. In order that Its useful
ness may not be counteracted by the
Broadway-bridge, was. the tentative
decision of the county commission
ers at their meeting; Monday.
- A committee to investigate new loca
tions for the slips, consisting of Chris
Minslnger. J. V. Beach. Henry Baren
drlck and A. W. Barendrlck, was named
to consult with C. B. Hegardt, engineer
of the commission of fftibllc docks. The
coanmittee will report back Wednesday.
Cable to guide the ferry will not be
used because of Interference with river
traffic. It is likely, therefore, that the
lower Albina ferry boat will be used,
the upper ferry boat going to St. Johns,
the boat now in use there being in bad
condition.
. The Albina ferry landing at the north
end of he Fifteenth street municipal
terminal cannot be used because the
Port of Portland intends building a dock
there. The south end of Montgomery
dock No. 2 has been suggested as the
most desirable site for a new ferry land
ing on the east side. ,
The question of traffic regulation oh
the bridges was taken up by Lieutenant
H. A. Lewis of 'the city police depart
ment The 1919 motor vehicle law,
Lieutenant Lewis said, apparently gave
the commission authority to police the
bridges and regulate traffic Instead of
the city.
He recommended placing deputy sher
iffs -at each approach of the Burnside
and Morrison" bridges to see that no
trucks of more than two tons capacity
crossed, that streets run not closer than
100 feet, and that when cars were
awaiting the draws, they Should not be
spaced closer than one car to a span.

Model Frocks for Street and
Afternoon Wear at Much,
A sale of dresses, the like of which has not been seen for many a moon- certainly not this season. And
onty because they are "samples" and purchased at an absurdly low figure, are we able to sell them at this value

This is an event in which the smartest dressed women in Portland will participate. An event that is cf great '
importance to all women seeking that rare combination of style, quality and value.
There are styles and sizes for the debu
tante and the matron, as wellthe colors
are those you would choose were you
buying the material to be made up.
-a.-
Description of the Two Sketched Below '
Two smart suggestions -for the tea hours of a debutante. The one
at the left is trie straight line affair of dull blue, which introduces
color-relief In the seven little gold buttons. Note the smart pockets.'
The otBer one is the spirit of "Youth!' with its. creamy lace bertha
over the rich claret velvet. A narrow belt of the same, and sparkling
Jet buttons complete this charming frock.
Description of the One Sketched Above
A wistaria colored frock, whose delightfully youthful basque blouse
is given a festive touch by the use of quaint, old fashiotied buttons that
flash a hint of Dresden colors.
Round self ' buttons adorn the sleeves, and the vestee is of steel
.colored Paulette.
It has a particularly good looking back, too, as yeM will note. The
crush girdle is of the velvet. Bindings and folds are of black satin.
These frocks of simple lines and exqui
site lack of "fussiness represent VALUE
right down to the last detail. ' Lipman
Wolfe value is represented in the style,
quality, nicetie of finish, excellence of
workmanship and beauty ' of fit. ; There
will fye, we are sure, a surprising lack of
alteration, for they are designed to fit, as
nearly as is possible for made garments
the woman whose size they are made for.
And there are all sizes in the collection.
Description of the Two Sketched Above ,.f
Now here are two brisk frocks that will appeat to the "tailoied"
woman the one on the right is of beaver brown with brown silk collar,
brown braid bindings and shiny "brown buttons. The peplum is full
in the back, and the waistline sharply defined by the tailored black
leather belt.
The other one is the ever smart straight line .model, distinctively
lacking in trimming of any kind save the heavy silk cord, black satin
covered buttons and the bindings of black silk braid. The frock itself
is entirely black and, of course, it is stunning.
Since the Number of Frocks Is Limited, None Will
Be Reserved or Exchanged All Sales Must Be Final
