Efforts to reach a settlement of the
grain handlers strike failed at a Joint
meeting of the dock operators ' and the
union leaders - at - the Merchants Ex
change today. During the meeting sharp

posing factiens, the strikers beiag firm
in their demands for 80 cents an hour,
an increase of five cents over he pres

Rose City and that she will resume her
run between San Francisco sad this

service lata in June because of trouble
with her pressure cylinders. The ves

for the south; July 27.
