Committee men for the Victory; loan in Yamhill county met from almost ; every ' section Thursday night and all made encourag ing; reports of prospects. The meeting: '. was addressed by John Is. Henderson of Portland and before adjournment it was voted by the bank ers of the county to underwrite the en tire quota of $508,275 and then- offer the -bonds for sale to patrons. This made Yamhill county the twenty-fifth In the state In guaranteeing- the full quotft before the campaign opena. K LINN ORGANIZATION FOR LOAN DRIVE COMPLETED Albanyi April 18. W. L. Jackson, Linn county manager of" the- Victory loan drive,, appointed - Tuesday night, has announced his county organization and Is rapidly getting plans in shape for the campaign. The county executive committee consists of Frank J. Miller, A, C. Schmltt,'K.-I. Cueick. C. H Wil liamson and L. M. Curl. This commit tee will also act as executive committee for Albany. The chairmen for the other banking districts of the county are C. 8 Stewart and J. C. Meyers at Leba non. O. J. Wllhelm at Harrlsburgr, Douglas Taylor at Halsey, C. J. Shedd at Shedd. Riley Shelton at Scio, and W. P. Elmore at Brownsville. The First National bank is preparing : to erect an " eight-floor building on a site .now occupied by one four stories high. ' It will have to be torn down." 1 V Mr. Lathrop's firm was connected with about one-half of the sales of property since January 1 and Is prepared for an enormous business arising from prosper ous times, he said.: Mr. Lafhrop lived in Oregon when he first came west.. In 1888 he went-from Minnesota to Pendleton, where he be came business manager of the East Ore gohian. Two years later - he went to Walla Walla to engage in the real estate and bonds and' loans business. - Special Train of Director Hines to Arrive on Monday ' The , special train carrying Director General Walker J D.' Hines and a party of railroad officials from Washington. D. C. to the west coast left St. Paul Thursday- and will make a stop at Spo kane i before coming to Portland. The special train is made up of five cars and will arrive - Monday night. Names of the principal officials ac companying the director general have been forwarded to this city. They are: T. C. Powell, director of the division of capital expenditures : H. B. Spencer, di rector of the division of purchases ; Max Thelen,; director of division of public service; JCdward Chambers, director di vision of traffic and Brice Claggett, as sistant director general. In addition the following men have joined the party since it left Washington : R. H. Aishton,' Northwest regional director ; J. O. Wood worth, i traffic assistant; H. E. Byram, president of C. M. & St. P., and L. S. Carroll, regional purchasing agent. George, 22 North Eleventh street was taken to the emergency hospital, Thursday night, suffering from a crushed foot, the result of a collision be tween a motorcycle which he was jiding and an automobile driven by May George of 244 Park street, at Four teenth and Alder streets. George was traveling east on Alder street and the automobile south on , Fourteenth when the smash up occurred.
