Oregon is in " excellent shape as re
gards registration, according to Captain
Culllson. With the exception of two
boards", all the state draft boards have
already reported the assignment of serial
numbers. Malheur and Deschutes are
the exceptions and they have probably
assigned their serial numbers, but since
In Malheur county one of the precincts is
18.0 miles from the local board and it
takes mall seven days to travel the dis
tance, and since , there is no method of
communication 'except by mail, reports
are necessarily slow.

denly, often without .warning, and is
apt to overcome them ' while on the
streetcar or at their work. It Is usually
accompanied by a high fever. . Victims
are advised to go home at once, call a
physician, and go to bed and, stay then
until they are completely cured.

Pacific ; coast yet, said Dr. George
Ebrlght, president of the state board
of health, today. But he "knocked
wood" when he said it

low the line of - railroad travel. " It may
appear here within two weeks. If it
does arrive the health authorities will
be Interested In observing outbreaks
and taking measures to keep it In check.

Epidemic Hits Gloucester

An appeal to outsidj towns for doc
tors and' nurses to assist in caring for
the thousands of sufferers from the grip

the health authorities. Of the city's 23
physicians six are ill with the malady.
