Salem, June 21. The labor situation
is looking better in Marion county, ac
cording to reports of government agents
who are working with: local people to
get enough workers to save the cherry

of the requests for pickers and it re
vealed a shortage of 1184, when com
pared with the number of persons who
have already signed up to go into the
berry fields. But J. R. Coleman, the
government agent here, says this did
not take into consideration the many
persons who have given verbal assur
ances that they would .be on hand when
the picking season actually begins.
