Prttchard Chics go, April 24. (L N. 8.) Sentiment wss quite bearish on oats because of the with drawal of exporters from this and eastern mar kets. Tit losses in that grain were H 1 i for th day and ther were little recuperativ power shewn, with the possible exception of the April and May future. June closed at the low est level, of the session and July regained only o of the, worst lost. Corn waa H c higher for May and unchanged for July. Provisions war unchanged for pork to 80 82 H e lower for lard and 42 H 45c lower for ribs. Chicago. April 24. (L N. 8.) Lack nf of fering wa conspicuous of th grain market opening tods? and it took but a little buying to bring a aharp advance in both corn and oata. There waa a little scattered commission house selling early, but when buying orders kppeared thrre wa no grain for sale. More fiivorabl weather had soma effect at the opening when the lowest prlcea were made. Trade in oaf waa generally light and prices fluctuated rapidly. Provisions were lower on scattered sale. It is stated that some of th big mills ar buying direct in the west becaus of their absolut need of supplies and this is giving price a very firm slant. Prices of th new clip in Arizona and Idaho re about 60c to 62. In the latter state BO aales ar reported thu far, but in Arizona sale ot fine, medium grades bar been made. These, it is estimated, will shrink about 60 per cent. In Utah shearings are well under way, with no sales reported so far. Soma of th clip ar be ing sent to Salt Lake City warehouses to be dis posed of to purchasers ther. The action ot England ta withdrawing from the South American market haa given buyers from the United States a freer opportunity to operate in that market. "It can be seen at once that through the medium of the railroad control and the regula tion of the movement of cars, the government is in a position to as effectively control the 1618 domestic wool clip aa if they actually either took it over or fixed prices, and the whole question becomes a very vital one, not only to the government iuotf, but to the grow ers, as well.
