triotic nature. This may be the last

With the aim of occupying their
proposed new church edifice by the
first of the year, members of the Kast
Side Baptist church are bending every
effort toward the successful realisa
tion of their hopes. Showing the ac
tive, enthusiastic spirit in which the
congregation has undertaken the proj

Sunday, $11,000. This was the gener
ous response to the building commit
tee's suggestion that S10.000 be raised
as a nucleus for further Individual
canvassing.
The great growth of the pastorate
of Dr. Hlnson sinre he became min
ister of the East Side Baptist church,
last March 1. made necessary con
tinual enlargements of the church
building. This finally resulted In a
concerted movement to erect a new
edirice, which Is to be located at East
Couch and Twentieth streets. More
than 150 members have been added to
the congregation during the Dresent
pastorate.
With the assurance that the build
ing is to be constructed, the congre
gation is working with Increased nc
tivity In the development of the
church's regular functions. Addi
tional members are being procured in
still greater numbers.
Dr. Hlnson will preach Sunday
morning on "America, then Heaven,"
intending to show that Individuals are
rich in privilege, faculties, friendships
and faith.
In the evening. Dr. Mllliken, the
esteemed pastor of the Oregon City
