Scathing criticism of the Pacific Coast league magnates who have an nounced that they will reduce the sal aries of players is contained In the Issue of the Sporting News of St. Louis, copies of which have reached here. It declares organized baseball's "record for square dealing with its players la not enhanced by the action of the Coast league." "There should be no more sympathy for club owners who have seized upon "war conditions' thus to increase their profits at the expense of the ath letes," the paper says, "than there is for food speculators. Such methods would hardlr be countenanced In cold blooded commercial enterprises; when they are adopted in baseball, where some elements of sportsmanship and square dealing are presumed to pre vail, they are especially repugnant. "For the good of baseball, let there be no repudiation by club owners of contracts." Veteran Spokane Shooter Does Good Work at Na tional Championship.
