The sixth annual Pacific Interna tional Stork exposition closed last evening.. It was said by breeders o' cattle, horses, hogs and sheep to be not only the most successful show of Its kind ever held In Portland, but also in the west. Although no tally was kept on the number of visitors at the show, a rougtf estimate of the attendance for the six days Is Riven at " 75.000. Weather conditions have not been at all favorable, and officials of the association say that more people tlmn they expected tramped thro'igH the mud from tent to tint to see the xhlblts. According to breeders, the areatest benefit derived from the show by them was ii the distribution of fine animals for breeding aril In the aroused stimulation toward the breed ing of aristocratic herds. More Space Heeded. The exposition has grown to such proportions that It can no longer be beld successfully under canvas and buildings, runways, receiving depots ami equipment are wanted to conduct It In proportion to its greatness. - ' The people of Portland have awak ened to ihe importance of retaining ' the stock show here," said President M'. H. Daughtrey of the Portland Vnlon Stock Yards company, "and 1 believe by next year we will havj ample accommodations. Although we havo received much assistance ir. staging the show, w have borne a great deal of the expense ourselves. Hreedersj and cattlemen, of course, de rive most of the benefit of the show, hut at the name time It brings no little amount of business to Portland. A great percentage of the breeders brought their families with them for th week's stay here and all of them did much Christmas shopping. "Different organizations have been most generous In their donations and on behalf of the company I wish to epre9s iny appreciation." School Children Attend. Yesterday at the fair was school children's day. The youngsters found diversion enough to keep them Inter ested and apparently enjoyed them selves to the utmost, skipping from tent to tent. Kmbued with the spirit of the auc tion sales a group of the "kids" took to one corner at the end of a show tent and conducted a sale of their own dis posing of Jack Knives and other val , uable treasurers. The "auction" was tof short duration, however, as each one had overxealous ambitions to be the auctioneer. .
