The matter of brick to be used on the new municipal auditorium - was discussed yesterday at a Joint com mittee meeting of the city officials and the Chamber of Commerce bureau of manufactures and Industries. A' little difficulty has arisen over whether the Pacific Face Brick com pany can deliver brick of the color and shade as per sample submitted. The quality of the material 7as not questioned, simply the color. The matter was brought up before' the Chamber of Commerce on account of the policy to favor as far as is possi ble home manufacturers. A result of the Investigation will be made to tin Chamber of Commerce by the commit tee of that body, composed of George C. Mason, C. J. I'arker and Chester J. Hogue. The committee represent ing the city consisted of Qeorge I Baker, J. A. Fouilhoux and O. K. Edwards. Delays in the' shipment of face brick, whlah will delay progress on the auditorium two weeks, has been reported to Mr. Baker by Mr. Foull Jiout." ' The delay was partly due to the shortage of cars. Three-Year Lease Closed. A lease has just been entered into , by which the building at the north east corner of Broadway and Everett streets is leased to the Motor Ve hicle Protective association of Seattle. The- new tenants do a business of insuring protection to automobile . owners against theft of machines. A motorcycle force is maintained for hunting down missing automobiles. The lease runs for' three years, and was made by Cord Sengstake, owner of the building, in cooperation with Stanley S. Thompson Co. TRADES CHICAGO APARTMENTS Guatav Frelwald Disposes of $28.5, 000 Chicago Realty. Gustav Frelwald, ,a Portland cap italist of 601 Schuyler street, has traded the Drexel apartments In Chi cago to a Mr. Hamberg of Chicago, Mr. Frelwald taking a 1800-acre ranch In Wyoming in the deal. The apart ments are valued at $285,000. Mr. Frelwald went to Chicago a few weeks ago for the pumose of completing the deal, which has for Some time been under consideration. He will return about the end of the week. Mr. Frelwald has been active of late in realty circles, the latest deal Involving over 1200,000 worth of Port land and Vancouver property, which he traded to a Dutch corporation, re ceiving In part payment over 7004 acres of wheat and alfalfa land at Weehtucna, Wash., the water rights of which tract are at present under question. in mis aeai, Mr. Frelwald gave among other properties the 90 bv 100 foot property at the northeast corner of Q rand avenue and Oak street. Salvation Army Has Been Here 30 Years "The Salvation Army Is celebrating the thirtieth anniversary of the work In Portland this week jointly with the annual harvest festival service which will last oyer the week-end.
