APPLE SAUCE CAKE.. 1 cup apple sauce. 1 cup sugar (brown or white). Vt cup shortening. 2 cups of flour. A cup raisins. cup currants. Vt cup nuts (walnuts). 1 teaspoon cinnamon. H teaspoon nutmeg. 1 teaspoon soda dissolved In cold water. 'Cream sugar and shortening, add ing apple sauce, flour and other Ingre dients In order. Raisins and currants should be whole, the nuts 'not fine. Bake In moderate oven. COMBINATION CONSERVE Twelve peaches 12 pears, one pine apple, six oranges, six lemons, two Quarts of erabapples. Peel and Quar ter the erabapples and measure after Quartsring. Peel- the peaches, pears and oranges and divide into eighths. Peel .the pineapple and cut in dice; slice the lemons very thin without peeling them.
