B. Tllbbard, made the fifth son in that family that has served or Is serv ing; in the armed forces of Uncle Bam. His mother, Mrs. Kmma B. Merryman, Is proud of an unbroken line of service on the part of the men of her family for tha past five generations, and counts 291 who have served the Stars and Stripes. "Army life has proved a godsend to all our men," declared Mrs. Merryman. "There has never been a failure. Edward Conway Is Convicted. Redwood City, Cal., Sept 26. (P. N. S.) Edward Conway, stevedore, of San Francisco, convicted by a Jury of six men and six women of killing Nick Barbonl. an Italian cook, with his bare' fists, during a brawl at the State High way house near Col ma, June 25, will be sentenced tomorrow.
