Pocatello How Owns Its Water Plant.
Information was received today
by the I.iiiuiermeiis Trust company,
purchaser of the $400,000 water bonds
of the city of Pocatello, Idaho, that
the water plant owned by James A.
Murray has been purchased by the
city for $350,000. This disposes of a
long siege of litigation between' the
water company and the city over serv
ice, rates and franchises, and was mad
possible by the, purchase of the city's
bonds by the Lumbermens Trust corn
puny. The United States court of appeals,
sitting at Han Francisco, In a decision
'handed down some time ago, decided
that the company had forfeited lta
franchise. Tlie public utilities com
mission of IdHho at one time fixed
the valuation of the plant at $215,000.
The public utilities commission again
considered the valuation of the plant
and fixed the figure at $290,000. The
offer was refused. After farther
negotiation, a figure of $$60,000 was
agreed upon.
