BRIEF
While the present condition of the egg mar

afraid pf the future.
Receipts at this time are light, but the de

that tbe receipts are not besvy. there la no
snap at all to the buying. Kfforts of some
parties to force Tslues higher hare proven a
fizzle.
With the egg laying season well stsrted in
the Willamette Tslley and liberal receipts held

A new York mall advice Indicates that The

Flour prices are tending higher. An ad
vance of 2tV a barrel Is now generally ex
pected by the trade, which would put patent
to $5.00 a barrel. A number of millers are
already talking about uch a price movement,
bu no geueral changes have as yet been
made.
With the price of wheat higher here and
tbe eastern flour practically entirely eliminat
ed from the Pacific coast trade because of the
extreme quotation of the product at $7.70
for top grades. Pacific northwest millers have
nothing to fear from outside competition.
Comparatively ieaklng. Hie pri e of flour
here la cheap. This section Is ty far the
lowest flour market In the world, therefore a
general advance la forecasted by the trade.
Wheat market la erratic. Sales of bluestem

Quality of Wheat

Chicago. Jan. in (I. N. S. i Wheat closed

The grain market weakened slightly over

The setback In wheat was credited partial

serious rettck for export business in Amerl
