Miss Row land will lecture about "Best Books In the Field of Psychology." Adam Amos Dead. The funeral of Adam A. Anion, who died at hln home yesterday, 351- Sixty-seventh street S. K , was held this afternoon. Inter ment was in Mt. Scott cemetery, under direction of Miller & Tracey, funeral directors. Mr. Amos was nearly 4 years of age and was born In New Brunswick, Canada. For many years he was a lumberman in Minnesota, and afterwards engaged in merchan dising, coming to Portland nine years ago. Mr. Amos la survived by his widow, Mrs. Maria B. Amos, and three sons and one daughter. Fred A., Rob ert R. and Clark F. Amos and Mrs. iU Walther. Anna Bwanson to Lecture Professor Anna Swanson of t'ouer d'Alene. Idaho, lectures this evening at the Immanuel Lutheran, church, Nineteenth and Irv ing streets, on the subject. "The Power of Thought." The lecture will be given in the Swedish language. Pro fessor Swanson Is a lecturer, editor and educator of ability. After the lec ture refreshments will be pervert In the church parlors by the Young Peo ple's society. Mrs. M. E. Stratton and Mrs. W. J. Hawkins, both of this city. For many years she visited in Port land at frequent intervals, and was well known here. rinaU la Debates Tonight. Finals in the interclass debates at Reed college will be held In the college chapel to night at 8 o'clock, between th sopho more and Junior classes. The subject, as In the two previous class debates, will be: "Resolved, that the United States Should Substantially Increase Its Appropriations for National De tense." Mrs. Nichols' Funeral Held The funeral of Mrs. Josephine Nichols, who died in this city on November 17. was held from the Holman parlors this afternoon at 1:30 p. m. Con cluding services were held at the Portland Crematorium by Corinthian Chapter, Order Eastern Star. Mrs. Nichols was 63 years of atre. a native of Nevada, and educated in San Jose, ; Cal. She was a member of the Star , King lodge of the O. E. S. of San i Frunclsco. and also an active worker in the Itebekahs. of California, being interested In the I. O. O. F. orphans home at Ollroy. Kuneral serv ices were held in Vancouver, Wash., yesterday for Jacob D. Prutzman, who died in this city last Sunday. He served In the Civil war as a member of the 150th Pennsylvania volunteer infantry. The Vancouver O. A. R. post of that city had charge of the services.
