The Methodist denomination 1s the most reeent to affiliate, Bethel M. K. chureh having come into the union with ;i society of 44 members. Thirty three of this number are active. t is considered unusual for a Mothodi-t church to have a Christian Kiirti avnr society in Portland, as the Epwortii league is to be found most local Methodist churches. W ith the addition of this new cietv there are 53 societies in in so the Portland union. They ar- distributed as follows: Christian, eiirht societies: Congregational. nine; 15; Evangelical, four: FViiierl Brethren, five Presbyterian. Friends, three; ; I'nited Pres- byterian. three: Methodist, one- Episcopal. ' one. and -a total membership of 20". Fall work will begin at Marshall Streft Pre::lytcrian church Septem ber l'j, when th- Endeavorers will take charge of the evening service with the Christian Endeavor subject, "Throw Yourself Into Your Task." Miss Ford, union secretary, wjll give an Illustrated lecture on Portland missions. Christian Endeavor work fit the Fourth Presbyterian church will be gin Friday evening, September 10, when the Endeavdrers will get to gether at the home of the pastor. Rev. H. G. Pratt, superintendent of the S in.Iay school at Vernon Pres byterian church, has been chosen a member of the Christian Endeavor union cabinet to preside over the tenth legion. He will bp available to lead meetings after September 12. Bible School Aid To the Teachers Sunday school teachers of Portland are Invited to equip themselves more thoroughly for their work by enroll ing in the Bible school recently origi nated by Rev. Walter Duff, of Cal vary Baptist church. 'lasses begin Tuesday evening at 7:30 o'clock in the lecture room at East Eighth and Grant streets, with Rev. Duff an Dr. W. T. Milliken as lecturers on "The Interpretation and Inspiration of the Scriptures." Additional classes are planned for Fridays for young men wishing to go into evangelistic work. Practical work will be given in students' mis sions throughout the city. Rev.
