Bankers Approve
Award of Bonds
, Portland bankers j generally approved
the. award yesteroay uy the board of
county commissioners of .the entire
road bond Issue of $1,250,000 to Henry
Teal, representing a syndicate of Bos
ion bond buyers, j
Mr. Teal's bid was the highest one
; submitted for the full issue, carrying
premium of $20,625, making the total
amount available $,270,625. The bonds
are serial bonds and will draw five per
cent Interest. The bonds will be is
sued in denominations of $1000 and
delivery- will be made by the county
as soon as possible.
The price considered for the Issue Is
considered an excellent one In view of
the strained International situation.
! Taking Into account the premiums
the annual Interest ion the road bonds
will be 4.T7 per cent while that on the
Interstate bridge bonds will be 4.70 for
the $1,009,000 sold j In December -and
4.87 for the $250,0001 sold In November.

splendid twirling of L. Bigbee and
Tuerck, who allowed the Washington
hitters but three Dingles. Bigbee was
taken off the mound in the eighth,
after walking two batters.

The second monthly smoker of tthe
Multnomah Amateur Athletic club will
be held tonight la the club gymnasium.
Chairman Bert Allen of the entertain

the club roms will be crowded with
members and-prospective members.
The corncob pipe will hold sway
during the evening. After the vau

Martinoni Appears
In Oakland Uniform
Elmer Martinoni, whom McCredie
designated as an artist's model, when
he released last year's leading pitcher,
appeared at the San Francisco ball park
yesterday In an Oakland uniform.
Marty tried to get on with the Seals
and there was; nothing doing. It Is
probable that Tyler Christian will give
him a chance to return to the Coast
league. - . ;
MINOR BASEBALL
The baseball schedule of the West
Side Church league has been made up
for the season. ; The league will play
Its first games next Saturday and will
continue playing each Saturday until
