"No more auh racing for mine" was the positive declaration here today of Bert Ding- ley, the Los Angeles driver injured In the Fourth- of July races. He lay weighted to his bed in tho Tacoma general hospital and discussed for the first time the accident that almost caused his death. 'I died once, or was Just as good as dead," said Dingley. ' The local lodge of the "order, of Knights of Columbus will cooperate in the nation wide movement to have erected a great memorial tomb and monument in honor of Christopher Columbus, at Santo Domingo. William Pulllara, a former resident of this city, who about a year ago, while serving, as general receiver of Domini can customs at Santo Domingo, started the movement, addressed the local lodge on the subject Monday evening. The engineers suggested that fur ther action await the result of the im provement of the bar when, if suffi cient commerce develops, a survey may be ordered on a larger project. Arrangements hav been made for an aerial derby to -be held on the Rose City speedway with trottng and pacing races as an added -attraction. Christofferson will do all manner of flying stunts in bis aeroplanes, includ ing racing a motorcycle and running a relay race with himself in two dif ferent aeroplanes. - His most spectacular stunt will be a death dive, a feat only attempted by Lincoln Beachy and himself. At a height of S000 feet, he will shut off his motor and let the aeroplane fall perpendicularly to within a few feet of tho earth. Next week Christofferson and E. Carl Wallen, who is taking pictures of the flights hero for the Hearst-Sellg weekly, will go up the Columbia river to The Dalles, in order to get views of that scenlo stream.
