Widow and Infant j Survive Electrician William Paul Piatt, Who Was Thrown . to His Death From Speeder, Held . Stespoaslbls Position, Surviving William Paul Piatt, line foreman of the Southern Pacific, who received ' fatal Injuries when thrown from a gasoline speeder July 8, are a widow and a nine weeks' old baby. Piatt died the next day of a fractured skull.' He was a native of Germany, com ing to this country when five years old. After living in Philadelphia and mid dle western states he came to Port land. Piatt was an electrician of 15 years' standing and held a responsible position with the Southern Pacific, He had been withi-ths company about twr and a half years. lie was married March 8, 1912, to Miss Edith London of Pittsburg, Pa., the ceremony taking place at the White Temple. Funeral services following his death were conducted by the Rev.- F.. D Findley, of the First United , Presbyterian church. Electricians' lo cal. No. 182, of which he was a mem ber, attended In a body, sending a large floral piece. Piatt was 30 years old. Charley White Will Reach S. F. Today San Francisco, Cal., July 23. Charlie White, the Chicago lightweight, was scheduled to reach San Francisco to day and will immediately start train- Ing for his scheduled 20 round bout here August 7, with Joe Azevedo of Sacramento. Atevedo and White al ready have met In one contest, a 10 round bout in the east. The bout was a no decision affair, but sport writsrs gave the Chicagoan credit for & de- j clslve win. . I The bout will mark White's first appearance In ft San Francisco ring, and curiosity doubtless will attract many to the ringside. White recently outpointed Willie Ritchie, former light weight champion of the world. In a 10 round bout in Milwaukee. Lion Baseball Team To Meet Mikados; The Won Clothing company baseball team will meet the Mikado club at the Vaughan street baseball grounds next : Sunday afternoon at 1 2: JO o'clock.
