Whatever burglar imagined, from
"hefting" J. W. Bennett's family safe
that a fortune awaited the opening,
was grievously disappointed Friday
when' he discovered the strong box
held only a few documents and one
fountain pen.
Bennett lives at 1574 Melbourne av
enue. He reported the theft and De
tective Coleman was sent to Investi
gate. The safe, which is only about 15
inches square, had been carried away
bodily and Colemap found It, after
some search ,ln the bruBh near the
house. It had been battered open with
an ax. the papers had been looked over
and the pen only was taken as the only
article of any value to a burglar.
