Little Mildred Seufert received the guests at the door, Bridge honors fell to Miss Bar ensteeher and Mrs. Louis Allehof. ' . w New Arrival. Mr. and Mrs. Max Hardman (Edith Leyy) of Seattle, are being congratu lated on the arrival June 1$ of a son, who will be named William Charles Hardman. Farewell Given. The "Frere Fideles" club gave a farewell party to Edward Topping, Saturday evening, June 27. The mem bers with their friends attended the Orpheum theatre and afterwards went to the Hazelwood, where luncheon was served. Mr. Topping left for southern Oregon, where ho will rest during the summer, and later will go to Chicago to take a position. Before leaving this city he was connected with The Journal. He was-' also a prominent member of the "Frere Fldelis" since its organization last March. Schloth. -ReciUl Enjoyable Affair. A charming affair of last evening: was the program of children's songs given by Mies Mabel Riggs, in the new auditorium of the Alnsworth school. Miss Riggs, who devotes her self exclusively to these interesting songs, was received with the enthusi asm. and the say little melodies were given in a bright, happy manner. which won her audience at once. Miss Dagmar Kelly's rich -contralto voice was also well received. Mrs. Warren E. Thomas was the accompanist for the evening. The stage was filled with flowers, gifts to the singers, and made a very pretty background for the young singers. Miss Rlggs was charmingly gowned in pink crepe and lace. Miss Kelly also wore pink with silver trimmings. Mrs. Thomas wore a becoming white lingerie frock and Mrs. John Claire Monteith, who as sisted her husband in receiving the guests, was in yellow taffeta and lace. Miss Speckart Hostess. Miss . Harriet Speckart entertained with a delightful luncheon for Ed ward Adams Cantrell in the committee rbom of the Hazelwood Saturday, June 27. Other guests included Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Oatman. Dr. Mae Cardwell, Dr. and Mrs. Paul A. Trulllnger and Dr. James F. Bell. The table was beautifully centered with sweet peas. Called East by Brother's Death. General Charles F. Beebe left Fri day for the east where he was called by the sudden death of his brother, Alfred Lk Beebe, who passed away at his summer home in Mystic, Conn. Mr. Beebe numbered many friends in Port land where he spent six years as a member of his brother's family. His last visit was at Christmas time when he remained several months. General Beebe will probably remain in the east for a couple of months. League Luncheon. Recreation league held a luncheon at the Hazelwood Monday, June 29. Those present were: A. B. Clark, A. E. Wood, R. M. Small, R. Nunn, J. Marvin Howes. Launching and Swimming Party. Mrs. R. W. Blackwood and Mrs. Alex G. Riddell were joint hostesses Thursday at a most enjoyable launch ing and swimming party. Trie party started in Mrs, Riddell s launch in the forenoon and motored up the river returning to the Oaks for luncheon and later going down the stream to Wlndemuth for a swim.
