Structnrts airing X.rg- Xxhlbltlon Area. 66 A comprehensive exhibition of tha product of the land and factories un der the official nam "The Manufac turers' and Land Products Show of Portland, Oregon," will be held In this Cly from Monday, October 26 to Sat urday, Norember 14, 1914. This was broufht about through the definite ac-l tlon of a committee of five men rep resenting, the directors of the Manu facturers' Association of Oregon, and the Pacific Northwest Land Products Show association Friday at the meet ing held In the Commercial club. At a previous meeting held several days ago, by the Joint directory of these two organisations, the following com mittee of management - was selected: For the Manufacturers' Association of I Oregon, Colonel David M. Dunne, Hen ry Connor, A. J. Klngsley,, A. M. Har radon, A. E. Qahtenbein, P. Feldman, A. C. Black, O, E. Heint. R. B. Bain, W. F. McKibben. w. H. McMonies, T. 8. Mann, Representing the Land Pro-1 ducts association were the following directors: John S. Beall. Wilfred Jones, W. J. Hofmann, Francis Sealy, William McMurray, E. L. Thompson, W. B. Coman, A. P. Bateham, J. Fred Larson, E. D. Timms, W. D. Skinner, H. J. OPPenbeim, F. W. Hlld and Julius Meier. These, In turn, at a subsequent meeting, selected the following men to serve the big board as an execu-l tlve committee with full power to transact all the business of the forth coming show. "bow" la Ivery Sense. , The men entrusted with the hand- ' ling of this exposition decided that ltl would b up to date to call It a "show.1 This Is what they propose to 'make it. a showing of the products of the fac tories, farms, fields, orchards and even 1 of the waters of the Pacific north west. This executive committee con sists of Colonel David M. Dunne, chair man; A. J. Klngsley, K. L. Thompson for the Manufacturers-' association, and A. P. Bateham and John 8. Beall for the Land Products Show association. The executive committee In turn. elected Louis W. Buckley general man ger of the exposition. IV XV. Ray mond was named secretary. Offices will be secured In the Com- ' merclal Club building and In charge of Manager Buckley, will be opened to morrow. The committee proposes to go ahead In an active manner, and carry through all the details of the show as speedily as possible, espec ially In the Issuing of premium lists, I advance circulars and the arrangement and allotment of exhibit space. By unanimous action of the entire board of directors, Colonel David M. Dunne was elected chairman of the executive committee and president of the show. ' Strong rinanolal Committee. Manager Buckley has been an active exposition manager of land shows, manufacturers' expositions, food expo sitions and Blmllar exhibitions for the past 20. years. The plan, proposed Is to hold an ex position that shall be virtually self- supporting, but whose financial affairs are to be governed and carried out i through underwriting the entire finan cial end of the proposed show. One Of the strongest financial committee possible was appointed and headed by L. Samuel, who stated at the meeting of the committee that the amount of the guarantee fund of $16,000 would be raised In three days. Over one third of this sum has already been tentatively pledged by the larger In terest of the city. Armory X Secured. Yesterday the executive committee secured through Colonel Martin, tiie Armory and around which will b built temporary structures sufficient to give 0,000 square feet of exhibit space. Products, not only of Portland and Or egon, but of the entire Pacific north west, will be installed on this floor space, making an exposition that will vie successfully with any of a similar character ever held In the United States. A great many special events and the cooperation of seorea of organizations, together with the engagement of big concert bands and musical attractions, will help provide an unlimited attend ance. The management decided to make this a popular price exposition. Not the least attractive feature of the exposition will be the apple and fruit show. Premiums aggregating $4000 In Value will be given to exhib itors In the fruit and agricultural, or land products, departments. An effort will be made to have the showing of land products partake of a novel and original character, The methods of fruit culture, the spraying of orchard trees, . and the displays of farm' ma chinery and tractor engines will help to interest not only the agriculturists and horticulturists, but the general public as well. A very considerable sunt of money will be devoted toward the building of beautifully decorated I , booths and the overhead decorating and lighting.. KLUG HEARS SENTEMCl Attorney George Ludwig Klug, con victed of uttering a forged mortgage for $400 to John Dudek, was sentenced to an Indeterminate sentence) of two to 20 years In the penitentiary by Cir cuit Judge Morrow yesterday. Du dek, Herman Vetter and Irene and Km ma Paulsen, each of whom testified at Klug'a trial that Klug secured mon ey from them on similar mortgages. I signed a petition asking that Klug be paroled, saying that they believed the lesson had been sufficient. Judge Mor row dia not consider the petition and 'also refused to grant a new trial. No tice of appeal was given by Klug's at torneys. ...
