San Francisco, May 20. Yantz, the new catcher on the McCredie payroll, earned his salary yesterday, by slam ming out a single In the tenth inning and scored Ryan and Rodgers, and giving Portland a 6 to 5 decision. Oak land made one run in the tenth but Reiger was able to fan Teddy Kaylor, batting for Pruiett and choked off the rungetting of the locals. Reiger was touched up for 15 hits but he managed to keep them pretty well scattered, one third of them being made in the first inning, when the Oaks scored two runs. By winning yesterday the Beavers shoved the Oaks into last place, being themselves but 18 points ahead of the cellarites. Ryan was safe at second in rfie tenth on Quinlan's error and Rodgers walked. Lober was.out. Guest to Ness and this gave Yantz his chance. He cracked out a long single and cleared the bases. Reiger was thrown out, Pruiett to Ness and Bancroft fanned. Murphy opened Oakland's half by singling and Ness followed suit. Mitzo sacrificed, then Rodgers threw Cook out to Derrick and Murphy scored on the play. Gardner batted for Guest, walked and stole. Devlfh decided that Kaylor had a bingle in his system but guessed wrong, Teddy fanning. Portland scored in the first Inning when Bancroft tallied on a walk and singles by Derrick and Doane followed by Priuett's error on the throwin. Oakland made five singles in the first inning, hits by Ness and Mitze scoring Middleton and Zacher. Reiger opened the third with a dou ble and Bancroft walked. Doane was hit by the pitcher. Reiger scored on Kores' fly to Zacher. Then Ryan walked and Rodgers brought Bancroft home with an infield single. Doane singled and stole in the fifth, scoring on Kores' single. Oakland tied it up in the eighth by bunching two doubles and a single. Middleton opened with a single and Zacher doubled, to be followed by Mur phy's double. .Victoria, B. C, May 20. The league transferred the franchise to Kingham, who will be sole owner of the team. He has assumed no re sponsibility for the former team own ers aside from guaranteeing the sala ries of the players for the past two weeks and back rent on the- park amounting to several thousand dol lars. The Spokane-Victoria games will be played here according to schedule. The Bengals would have been blanked had It not been for Bobby Coltrin's error In the fourth frame, which allowed McMullen a life, and he scored on an out and Butler's single to center, one of the five hits the Tacoma bunch was able to make off the Portland righthander. It makes Eastley's fourth straight victory. Portland hopped on gray Dave Kraft in the sixth for three runs. With one out, McKune, Hausman and Gulgnl singled and Milligan cracked one over second at a terrific clip, chasing the first two across, putting Gulgnl on third and Mill taking second. Wil liams sent a hard fly to handle to Neighbors, almost back of second base, and Guigni was able to Score. After that the Colts began hitting for extra bases. With one out in the seventh, Melchior got a triple to right center and McKune walked. The pair pulled off a double steal, Mel scoring. Guigni opened the eighth with a dou ble to center and stole third, turning the tables on the Tigers, who have been making it uncomfortable for him by trying to steal third. Williams hit to West and Guigni was run down be tween third and home, Williams tak ing second. Coltrln followed with a triple to left center and Nick trotted across the plate. All this was on Jerry Girot, who succeeded to the pitching when Abbott did a pinching stunt for Kraft. TACOMA. AB. R. H. PO. A. E. Million.
